Lumpy boob

I’m 43 and think I’m probably starting perimenopause , still getting my periods but notice my cycles are shorter for a while then longer every few months. I did a breast check early on in my cycle and I feel like my right breast is lumpier feeling than usual, a bit beanbag-like but with larger lumps underneath as well. Should I get this checked by my GP? It’s hard to really know because I’m slim and can feel my ribs when I check my breasts and my boobs are a bit fibrous anyway. And it might be hormonal due to peri.
I had a breast check a few years back as I had a palpable node in the same breast, they checked with ultrasound and said it was normal and only palpable because I’m slim. It’s never changed since.
Not sure if this warrants a GP check or not. Are ultrasounds generally a better way to have a boob check at my age (rather than mammogram?)
