Is there such a thing as getting an appointment with an emergency dentist? I rang 111 yesterday and they sent me to A&E who refused to treat me

At least one of my (two) local hospitals has an emergency dentist, I had to attend a few years ago and paid £10.90 for an extraction . Anything like that near you?

How would I find out sorry? It’s not anything I’ve heard of before

I had to use one recently. It was at my local hospital. But I had to ring 111 first and they made the appointment for me. Had to pay the Band A rate.

@Meredusoleil did you have an extraction may I ask? Or did they do something else for you?

No. I was in the process of having root canal treatment and the dentist just had a look (not even an X-ray) and said I had an infection. So he prescribed me antibiotics which I collected from the chemist and started straight away. Then I went back to my own dentist 5 days later, when the antibiotics had finished. It was the Easter Bank Holiday weekend!

@Meredusoleil did the antibiotics work for you? I’m on day 4 of amoxicillin and am in agony

Yes they did. But not until about 2 days in tbh.

Did the emergency dentist see you quite quickly (like in a few hours?)

Yes. I rang 111 at like 9am and was seen around 11.30am, I think it was.

To be fair, my cheek was hot and red and slightly swollen, so the signs of infection were already there.

Oh no toothache is awful I couldn't get one at all on the nhs even as urgent I had to go private was worth every penny to be honest to be seen I paid £30 new patient consultation was £100 and treatment which was infection in 3 teeth was £80
I needed further treatment which came to 2 thousand pounds
