Raised liver enzymes

Hi,

A bit of back story.. I’m 29 (F), history of IBS, had a c-section 11 months ago. For the past 2-3 months I have been experiencing some upper left abdominal pain. There is no particular pattern to when I have it. It is usually under the left rib and can travel down my left side to just above my hip bone. I went to my GP just over a month ago and they ran some blood tests. Everything came back normal and no further action required. The pain has persisted and I wanted a second opinion so I booked into see another GP. This GP is being very thorough and ordered repeat bloods aswell as additional blood tests not previously done. Omeprazole was also prescribed and I started taking it about a week prior to the blood test as I was having some reflux. I recently got the results back and everything was fine except my liver enzymes were elevated. I don’t know how elevated but my GP has got me to have repeat bloods. The blood form shows it’s looking for a lot of things related to the liver.

I am trying not to get too stressed but am worrying a bit. I am over weight and I know fatty liver disease could be to blame. I barely drink (I’m talking maybe one glass of wine a month) so know it’s not alcohol related.

I suppose I’m wondering what could have caused enzymes to be elevated a month after previous bloods? Am hoping someone might have a similar experience or be able to give me a few ideas as to what it could be. When the receptionist called with the results she couldn’t give me much information and when asked if possible to speak to the GP he wasn’t available for a call back until early next week.

Thanks to anyone who replies x

Left side wouldn't be liver pain. People most frequently feel discomfort on r side under ribs, or at the back ( on R side obviously!).
Enzymes and bloods can be raised a little or lowered a little with no problem. Some labs have different ranges of normal.
A good site is lab tests online.

Edited because inWas rambling on about my right side but yours is left! Sorry op! I do have raised liver enzymes and pain but it’s ‘just’ fatty liver.
