Hi,
My son had a full blood count this week as he has unexplained kidney pain when he wees.
The doctor's receptionist said that the results were all fine when I asked, but now checking the report there are a few that say abnormal.
I called the dr's back and the receptionist said that the dr would have contacted me if they were concerned. I asked if I could have a call back and she would only book one for 2 weeks time.
Could anyone please let me know if I should be concerned about these?

White cell count- 4.6 10*9/L • Abnormal
Normal range: 5.0 - 13.0

MCHC - 358 g/L • Abnormal
Normal range: 320 - 350

haematocrit
0.344 L/L • Abnormal
Normal range: 0.350 - 0.450

I suffer with anxiety and all this has me so worried.

Tia

I think if they are a little under or over it's not really that much of a cause for concern, the brackets at the end state the normal range, your sons are a little under those. I've had satisfactory & borderline in the past but Dr sent a text to say bloods were ok.
I guess they know what they are looking for. Plus low blood count can be caused by lack of vitamins too. I was really low in Vit D which brought some of my other full blood count results down. Request a phone call with a Dr to discuss results to put your mind at rest, or request vitamin blood count too.
