Help with 2yo mesenteric adenitis/temperature/?UTI

My 2 year old started last night with a temperature. She slept through the night, I checked her temp a few times and it hovered around 38.9°. This morning she woke up with a wet nappy (unusual for her) complaining of tummy pains and running to the toilet. Straining to pee. No viral symptoms.

I have some urine strips because I'm prone to UTIs and dipped one (pictured). Phoned the doctor and put the sample into a bottle. Doctor has checked her over - ears, throat and chest fine. Says the sample is fine she's just dehydrated? And that it is mesenteric adenitis.

I am not sure about this at all. I have a 6 year old who is prone to mesenteric adenitis- every time we have visited the doctor with it they've also found signs of a viral infection or he's had a very obvious cold just beforehand. And he's never had a temperature with it.

I know I should probably just trust the doctor and I'm not one so what do I know but I feel uneasy, she's so little. She's off her food and tired, she's sleeping right now.

Bumping for you. How is she now? Is she managing to eat and drink?

Constipation with a urine infection? That's how dd starts with hers, constipation then within a few days the not quite making the toilet and then the fever begins, terrible tummy pains, off her food and when the fever really kicks in, she vomits.

Thanks both! She had a bad night but her temperature has come down this morning although she is still in a lot of pain. She is struggling to poo this morning so it seems she is constipated, not sure why she would have a fever with that though! The doctor didn't even feel her tummy yesterday!

Ok so, I gave some laxido this morning and she has done 2 poos today so that all seems to be sorted.

She still has a temperature of 39 with no other symptoms Confused she's in good form and eating a bit less than usual but enough... I'm at a loss about what to do. Surely the temperature indicates there's an infection somewhere?

Was that urine dip test read at 1 minute? It's showing a urine infection.

Constipation can cause urine infections, keep the laxatives up. Dd takes them everyday to keep her regular.

How is she doing now? That shows a uti & significant dehydration. Was this reading within the time frame?
If you’re still worried I would call up 111, especially with a fever and the results from that urine dip.
Hopefully all will be okay :)

Her fever kept rumbling for a couple more days but she seems to be ok now thanks for asking Smile
