itchy red penis

obviously not mine. . When dp pulls his foreskin back the head has a big red patch on it, and apparently is slightly itchy. Its been like this for a week or two, i gave him some canestan to put on it, which has helped a bit but as soon as he stops putting it on it comes back. He wont go to the doctors about it... Typical bloke. 100% certain that neither of us have slept with anyone else. . Any ideas:

He's probably got thrush. especially if it's something you are prone to and especially if the two of you use something other than condoms (if you're not TTC at the moment anyway). Thrush is not always sexually transmitted (ie there's no need to assume that he has been sticking it where he shouldn't), but it can be passed backwards and forwards between a couple unless they both get treatment for it; you probably both need a short course of pills for it.
