Could this be mumps?

Dd has been complaining of pain just behind and below her ear. Her glands seem to be swollen [not unusual as she has had Glandular fever and this happens when she is run down] I can feel a lump behind her ear and it hurts when I touch her below the ear on her neck. She was very tired when she came home from school today and just flopped in front of tv, which isn't like her. She also says that it hurts to swallow.

could be. where in the country are you?

More likely tonsillitis with swollen glands.

Mumps causes swelling in front of your ear/cheeks.

Thanks, I am in Spain. Yes she has had tonsillitis a few times. It's just the swelling is in a different place this time but it definitely isn't in her cheeks.

Could be. I remember when I had mumps it was pretty much like that.
