Possible UTI now with mild fever tonight, can this wait till Monday?

Hi all,

I've had symptoms of a UTI for a little while but haven't been able to get a GP appointment and haven't been able to get to a pharmacy. Absolutely my fault for not prioritizing my health but I've had 2 birthdays in the same week for DC.

Anyway, tonight I have quite quickly developed a mild fever, I'm quite cold but my chest is boiling and I'm shivering. Feeling not too bad but I haven't actually gone for a wee much today and when I've gone it's painful and small amounts/dark. I've not much appetite and on reflection I don't think I've drank enough today to be honest as it was my DS birthday party and its been a bit chaotic.

Basically, I know I need to see the GP or someone (although I am just assuming it's a UTI). Do you think this can wait till Monday morning? I don't really fancy waiting on hold for hours to 111 when I don't feel that bad. I haven't had many UTIs so don't really know the 'protocol'.

Thanks!

I think if you're shivering/not seeing much then really you need to be seen, you could deteriorate significantly before Monday.

Weeing^ not seeing

Go to GP out of hours - go now or phone 111

Houseinawood · 27/04/2024 21:00

Sorry might not be 111 not the emergency one but the one to get advice.

Icanseethebeach · 27/04/2024 21:01

Pharmacist can prescribe for this now.

alladvicegratefullyappreciated · 27/04/2024 21:01

Walk in out of hours quick before it shuts!

Pharmacist can prescribe for this now.

They can?

That would be life changing.

mamaison · 27/04/2024 21:05

I would not leave it until Monday - that does not sound good.

FYI if you are in this situation again you can now get a simple UTI treated at the pharmacy without needing a GP. I don’t know if you can use this service if it’s got more severe.

I would call tonight for after hours advice.

I got uti prescription from boots online doctor and picked it up the next morning.

Tbf, with a uti you should be wanting to wee loads, not less. So your wee is dark, therefore dehydrated. The one thing you need to do if you get that tingling uti feeling is drink loads to flush it out. You say you've had signs all week and yet have done the worst thing you could do, which is not drink.
If you drink loads, you might get to Monday ok, but if you get lower flank pain, like a dull throb, get antibiotics asap.

Opentooffers · 27/04/2024 21:35

Also, worth getting a sti test as chlamydia and gonorrhoea can cause signs of a grumbling uti. Your description of not passing urine much does not fit with classic uti where you cant get off the loo and each time it hurts lots.

Covidwoes · 27/04/2024 22:20

It could be a kidney infection OP. I'd definitely get checked today.

I get the cranberry sachets from Tesco, keep some in as spares now. Take those, sometimes it works.

Drink lots of water. Visit pharmacy

fashionqueen1183 · 27/04/2024 22:28

I would call 111. They may be able to get you a phone appt and prescription sent to a pharmacy for first thing tomorrow. If you’re shivering I would be worried I’d expect 111 to act quickly. Don’t wait

Ukholidaysaregreat · 27/04/2024 22:31

I think you sound quite poorly now. I would ring 111 and see what they advise. Hope you feel better soon.

CheshireCat1 · 27/04/2024 22:31

A pharmacist can prescribe for an uncomplicated UTI.

Ladyj84 · 27/04/2024 22:32

My experience from uti is constantly needing to wee and horrendous pain in lower back

DrunkenElephant · 27/04/2024 22:33

The not weeing all day and fever are concerning.

I think you should call 111.

mrsbyers · 27/04/2024 22:34
