Infection after extraction won’t go.

The tooth was an emergency extraction 4 1/2 weeks ago.

Despite endless swilling etc, l developed an abscess and roof of mouth swelled up.

Weeks course of Amoxocillon seemed to work. But then it came back about 3 days after end of course.

Really fed up of this, I’ve got Long Covid and it’s making it much worse.

Whats the next step?More antibiotics that won’t work?

is there a fragment of tooth left in there? I had a horrendous extraction last summer, and there was a small piece of bone they couldn’t get out. It didn’t heal properly until I’d had that tiny bit removed and then it was better in two days. It’s miserable. Really miserable. M

No, there’s no tooth left. They x rayed it and there was nothing left.

I don’t want to get into an endless cycle of antibiotics.

You might need antibiotics for a few more days but hopefully it won't be an endless cycle. Maybe something a bit stronger than amoxicillin just to see it off once and for all.

I feel for you, dental pain is the absolute worst so do go and get more ABs as you don't want that hanging around unnecessarily
