I discovered towards the end of my last pregnancy that I had several large cysts on my thyroid gland. By the end they were huge and I was waking up in the night coughing and spluttering. Tests showed that the cysts are benign and that my thyroid function is normal and so I have been advised not to have my thyroid gland removed (even though it is apparently covered is cysts!). The two biggest cysts have shrunk quite a bit since I had my son eight months ago but you can still see one of them quite clearly. I want to get pg again and my question is this:
Has anyone else out there had a similar situation? My GP says she has never seen it before.
And if so what did you do? Have the gland out? Leave it and live with a large lump on your neck and lots of discomfort during pg?
Also, it is a nightmare to take thyroxine tablets during pregnancy (if I do have the gland taken out)?
So many questions... I hope someone out there can help.
