Swollen Face Tooth Infection

I have known for a while that I needed Dental work on my upper left teeth but just kept putting it off so now I think I have an abcess although I can’t see a lump. Last last night my gum was pretty sore and my face on that side is swollen. It feels the exact way it does when I have an Anaesthetic Injection at the dentist.

Anyone experienced that

You'll likely need antibiotics, book a dentist appointment

Yeah I have one for Friday I was just a bit worried as I never had a swollen face before.

When you booked the appointment did you tell them about the swollen face? If not, I would ring back and tell them as they might consider it an emergency. Tooth infections can become serious.

I posted a while ago on a similar thread.
I had an infection which I ignored and ended up with a serious infection which needed such strong antibiotics that the pharmacist rang my dentist to make sure they hadn't made a mistake.
The dentist also slit my gums open and sucked the infection (pus) out, not pleasant at all!
Ring the dentist and tell them your face is swollen, do it now

Yes she said if it gets worse then I can phone tomorrow morning for an Emergency appointment.

How is your face this morning?

MissCeltic · 25/04/2024 23:50

It is still swollen a bit although not as bad and the pain seems to be the gum right at the very top so not sure if can abcess up there as i feel it tender when I press on that part of my face.

Happened to me. Needed a root canal . 3 years later I’m having surgery for an abscess/ cyst in the bone which started with the swollen face

I couldn’t sort it due to Covid.
come on OP !
