I know.. I'm an eejit. I get dermatitus and pick my scalp in my sleep so for years I've had open cuts on my scalp. I smothered about half a bottle of neat teatree oil on there and let sit for 5 mins before washing off. Have since read that's it's highly toxic when ingested. Although I didnt ingest it I'm worried it's got into bloodstream through open cuts. Has anyone else used neat on cuts. Urgh, not sure if I'm just having a weird anxiety attack or if this is a genuine risk. Feeling really stupid.

I've used it on weeping infected blisters and lived to tell the tale. Very effective it was too with the healing/antiseptic qualities.

It's actually recommended for treating cuts and abrasions.

I use it in cuts all the time. I don’t understand why you’re getting in such a state. Obviously you aren’t meant to swallow it!

I’ve used neat tea tree oil on pretty much every wound or skin complaint for more than three decades …

🤷🏽‍♀️

Ingesting is not the same as on an open wound. You’re fine.

But just to say, I have the same issue. I also have OCD which manifests as skin picking, mainly behind my ears and my scalp. So with the dermatitis and the OCD, my scalp has been bad my whole life. The only thing I’ve ever found that has cleared it up as been Head & Shoulders supreme repair with argon oil and avocado oil (the bottle with the purple label on it). Using that shampoo and conditioning twice is the only thing that’s cleared my scalp.
