In our area there have been outbreaks of cryptosporidium following the Easter lambing events.
My toddler happened to catch it and on Sunday after ten days of constant sickness nd diarrhoea she got better. Thankfully we managed to keep her hydrated and therefore prevented things getting serious.
Sunday night, I came down with it. I had been so stringent in my handwashing especially around nappy changes but clearly not good enough.
I am so ill- my poo is just water, I had some flat coke earlier to try and get some sugar into my system as I went very lightheaded and an hour later it came back up.
I'm exhausted. I'm in pain. My bum hurts from wiping, my stomach hurts from cramping, my hands hurt from being dried out with all the washing.
There is no medication. You just have to ride it out and keep hydrated.
It can last anything from a few days to a month. DD was 2 weeks which is the average.
I absolutely recognise that people have far far worse illnesses and I'm just being a bit sad and sorry for myself but we've all only just come out the other side of a really nasty bout of Covid that saw me bedridden for a week, then caring for dd through her being sick whilst working full time, having a second child to look after and now this.
Does anyone have any practical advice / experience of crypto to help me ease the symptoms and feel more comfortable?
