I've had asthma for about twelve years, with periods of stability then relapses where it is pretty uncontrollable.
Two weeks ago my asthma was so bad I had an attack that resulted in my husband calling 999, paramedics attended and got me sorted with prednisolone, antibiotics and nebules for my nebulizer. I attended the asthma nurse and nurse practitioner and they arranged for me to have bloods taken. These have returned as normal but with low folate, I have started folic acid for the breathlessness symptoms of this.
On Sunday I had another episode where I needed to see out of hours Gp re asthma he prescribed the same as the paramedics. Fast forward to today, I've been to see the asthma nurse again and her and a nurse practitioner listened to my chest and said its clear - yep it will be I'm on steroids. But they also said that my chest X-ray is clear. And that they think this is a menopause thing, and that it may have been an anxiety attack.
They're referring me to a Respiratory specialist, if my X-rays are clear though, are these the only people I should see? Does anyone have experience of asthma that is at times uncontrollable but still shows as clear in an X-ray. Can this be menopause when my bloods have returned that my hormone levels are fine. The first episode was so bad I was lost consciousness, second episode nit so bad but I was taking ventolin up to ten times an hour.
