Nerve damage ?? After surgery for 2 slipped discs

I had surgery at the end of last year for 2 skipped discs. These were pushing in nerves and causing extreme pain . Surgery caused instant relief

I have now noticed that certain parts of my leg ans foot are less sensitive to pain (if I pinch certain parts of skin I can't feel it)

I has the slipped discs for 8 months so there were pushing for a long time

Is it possible I have nerve damage and this is what this feeling is ? (Not in any pain)

I'm sure it's probably one of the possibilities from surgery/ slipped discs but I can't remember!

Any experience or advice greatly appreciated

Thank you

Yes this is certainly possible. Nerves can take a really long time to heal after they have been compressed. Do you get a sense if the numbness/tingling is decreasing in area or severity slowly over time? Is it in the same region as you had the pain?

I've had similar both after an accident (crushing injury on foot) and after an emergency C-section.

I've also had spinal surgery twice but no problems after that!

In both cases, sensation has come back very slowly (perhaps ten years) but I don't expect it to fully recover. I've had both checked out. Just one of those things and it doesn't bother me.

@Applestrudel19 thank you for your reply, i'm not sure really if it's decreasing , i only noticed it a while ago but it is definitely where i got the pain although this is miles better than the pain

@Luckingfovely thank you for your reply, I think i will get mine checked out just to be sure, i'll mention it to my physiotherapist when i next see her as well

I had surgery for breast cancer nearly 5 years ago. I was left with a numb area down the back of my arm. I assume they cut through a nerve and it's odd but doesn't affect anything.
