Sharp stabbing stomach pains

Hi, i keep suffering from stomach pains, random times but x2 this week, it can vary in pain strength from mild/bearable to excruciating, after a particular excruciating occurence, usual painkillers didn't work, was sweating then freezing cold i went to the doctors, as I've had breast cancer, they sent me for kidney/bladder scans all clear except small cysts on kidneys which they said should not cause pain, its underneath my ribs, sharp stabbing pains, quite like gallstones but not them as i’ve had my gall bladder out, don’t think its food related as i have egg intolerance and that type of pain (if eaten something that i didnt realise contained egg) usually starts within 45 mins and anti spasmodic relieve that, this pain starts early hours ie 3/4am and is after a variety of foods and also a variety of diff sized meals, ie not overeaten, it can last a few hours, i’m at a loss as to what to do and so it seems is my doctor, i’v tried daily probiotics,i take a herbal bloating remedy to try and ensure its not trapped gas. Any help/ideas on self help appreciated (for info will be returning back to the doctors - just keen to try and help myself too

My first thought is hiatus hernia .

Thank you, I’ve thought maybe so too, but i wondered though whether my scan would have picked that up. Tbh i was that relieved that my scans were clear (radiographer told me at the appt as she knew i was worries) i didn’t go back to the docs after for a follow up not that they even bothered to contact me, but its happened on 2 consecutive nights now whilst i’m on holiday abroad so i really do need to get sorted or at the very least have some meds that help.

I had this exact pain in my ribs too. I went to doctors and everything for weeks. They ended up diagnosing me with Costochondritis. Inflammation of the ribs, nothing really helped it it just ended u going away on it’s own.

Did they scan your liver?
What type of breast cancer did you have?

anon1968 · 20/04/2024 23:10

I think they may have scanned liver too,i know they did 3 areas i’m just unsure, i had had ductal breast cancer not sure of the exact name, i’ve been clear 6 years, had a mammogram 3 weeks ago, so hopefully will be 7 yrs soon (no reason to think otherwise - just the fear never leaves) i do have bone scans as the meds i’m on can cause osteoporosis, my results have just come back for the latest, and have lowered so need blood tests to check vit d, thyroid and calcium but i don’t think this is connected, tho i will be asking for some further advice/investigation when i go for blood tests (if they let me do that at the same appt) the pain does vary and goes away, it just drains me for a few days if severe and tbh im getting frustrated at not knowing the cause so i can like i have to with egg intolerance 🙈
