Ring NHS Direct and they can check their poisons list. 08454647. Don't panic,

CountessDracula · 01/04/2008 10:20

morethanmum · 01/04/2008 10:22

On the back of my Bold packet, it says 'if swallowed seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label'. Ring NHS Direct, or go to A and E.

ruty · 01/04/2008 10:25

Your gp can ring the poisons unit [at Guys I think] very quickly and check if there is anything in the tablet that requires attention.

Psychomum5 · 01/04/2008 10:30

erm.....my DS1 swollowed some dishwasher stuff when he was 18mths, (and a week earlier it was essential oils.....my defence....I was very very ill with hideous morning sickness, so bad I ended up in hospital on a drip.....was in no fit state to stop him rahter than being neglectful)anyhoo....I digress....

rang NHS, he had to go into hospital for observation. seems that swollowing certain stuff isn;t bad on the going down, tis when it mixes with the stomach acid that the property changes and can therefore be dangerous...and it can burn coming back up if they are sick! (hence needing obs).

my DS was completely fine, no thanks to my parenting skills....altho it failed to stop him. later that same summer he broke his teeth trying to eat stones.

good luck with him, and altho it sounds scary, 99.9% of the time they are fine, we are the ones left with the shakes

CountessDracula · 01/04/2008 10:30

oh right
A&E then I think

morethanmum · 01/04/2008 10:36

A&E. Hopefully the OP is there now. Good luck (BTW, DS (5) swallowed 4 paracetomol and was fine)

BetteNoir · 01/04/2008 10:38

Yes, A&E.
And no liquids until you've sought medical advice.
I'm sure he'll be fine.

davidtennantsmistress · 01/04/2008 10:41

going to A&E now - he won't stop being sick - has done 2 big ones thou. OMG A&E again.

Take daz box with you so they have all info.

davidtennantsmistress · 01/04/2008 10:45

he's wanting to sleep, shoulld he on the way?

OP posts:
Psychomum5 · 01/04/2008 10:47

put him in the car with a towel and bowl (if he is able to hold it), and just go.....if you are that worried, phone for an ambulance...they will not mind!!

and don;t feel guilty....you didn;t force it on him, these things happen, and you did what you thought the correct thing.

now go, and take care, and good luck.

morethanmum · 01/04/2008 10:48

NO. keep him awake and take the Daz box. Go! Good luck.

morningpaper · 01/04/2008 10:55

please just go!

davidtennantsmistress · 01/04/2008 15:51

OK back now, nan sat in the back wiht him, he's fine they gave him some milk in the hosp which he wolffed down, within half an hour he went form being a lifeless little poorly boy back to his bright lively self running around. the dr said he was ok to eat lunch if he wanted it so he had a sandwich, apple and some chedder bite thingys, and some more milk. since he's had the first lot of milk he's not brought anything back up.

also apparently (so we all know incase anyone has this prob) the liqui tabs are low in toxic levels (apparently dishwasher ones are worse?) anyhow, give either milk or water, and if they begin to foam/bubble at the mouth infacol can help.

guess it's like a milk of magnesiumm thing.

crashed the back of the car as well in the car park, but hey ho the boy's ok which is the main thing.
