Hey I’m freaking out I have health anxiety as it is. I was having some issues toileting when I go to the loo it feels like something goes back up after.. I’m either going massive poos or wee balls of poo. I went to the doc in dec and she examined me and said there’s an internal pile she give me a screening tests and sent me away. So I was all in the Christmas zone and kind of forgot, my issues were all still there but I forgot to do the test. I was cleaning out and found it and did it and I was told it would be a week before results would be back. 2 days later the doc rings and it’s positive and I’ve to be reffered for more testing, I have a 8 year old and 1 year old and I am freaking out I have cancer

My first fit test was positive too. They called me in for a colonoscopy and found a small polyp which they removed at the same time.

It's not necessarily cancer or bad news. Just make sure you go to your follow up appointments and let the doctors do their job. I have anxiety too, and the best way I've found to deal with it is to act immediately rather than putting things off. It seems counterintuitive, but it's less worry and stress in the long run. X

My sister in law had a positive fit test as well, she went for a colonoscopy and it came back clear, diagnosed IBS.

surely piles can give a positive fit test? Doesn’t it only test for presence of blood?

Yes it does just test for blood. Good point about the piles.

Jcw2015 · 19/04/2024 12:13

What worries me is that I never see bloody so surely it’s in the stool, if it was caused by piles would it not be on the tissue. I’m absolutely freaking out

Not necessarily, I never saw any blood from my polyp either in the loo or on the toilet paper. The test picked it up though, just like yours.

Loads of people get positive Fit tests and very few of them have cancer. Most common thing would be piles, which you already know you have and fit with your symptoms.

Thank you I hope that’s the case

@Jcw2015 just wondering how you're doing? Was the colonoscopy clear?
I've just had a positive fit test, I'm 44 with 2 small children.

Hi,

try not to worry I had my colonoscopy last month and I was totally fine they removed a wee polyp and that was it. The worst part is the prep the colonoscopy isn’t too bad I needed a wee bit of gas and air but everything was fine
