Under active thyroid… back in line but still so tired?

I was diagnosed a month ago. I have been on 150mg thyroxine and now a blood test this week has me back in a normal range of 1. I didn’t expect it to work so quickly! But I’m still so tired. Still always cold, especially hands.
should I be feeling so tired now my reading is normal? Meds now reduced to 100mg
thank you

Did they measure t4 as well as tsh?
It can take time to stabilise, but being back at 1 is usually a good thing.
was this picked up on a general blood test? Did they check vit D/B12/iron?

SunshineAndCloudy · 19/04/2024 12:42

Yes both
tsh Was 148 now 1
t4 was 2.3 now 24

148! Crikey! That’s super high! I thought mine was high at 52 when first diagnosed. Ok so I think with your levels being so high and your T4 being so very low that it’s going to take time for your whole body to adjust to having to right amount. As the other things are also in range, then I would say hang in there and hopefully you’ll start to feel better in time. Are you under an endocrinologist to monitor you or just gp?

SunshineAndCloudy · 19/04/2024 18:58

Just gp
doc had said she was surprised I’m still feeling tired as back to zero and it’s worried me if more going on

You might need to increase your t4 to t3 conversion. I think it's selenium that helps with that particularly, but there are other things too. I take a good multivitamin and mineral and really notice a difference when I lapse for more than a few days (diagnosed 19 years ago).

Applestrudel19 · 19/04/2024 22:14

@TreesWelliesKnees that’s really interesting, can I ask which multivitamin and mineral you take?

SunshineAndCloudy · 20/04/2024 08:02

I’ve been eating Brazil nuts, these are good for selenium
