Tonsillitis Nightmare!

Hi everyone :)

I've had tonsillitis for nearly 3 weeks.

The left part of my neck underneath my chin is agony.
Everytime I cough, my head feels like it's going to erupt.
Enormous head & neck pain.
Foam both on my tongue and tonsils.
Tonsils are inflamed and swollen.

Been told to take clarithromycin but it made me violently sick with a repulsive metal taste in my mouth.

My doctor has now given me Doxycline to try.

They think it's viral as there's no puss on my tonsils.

Can anyone advise why it isn't going away?/something to help.

I'm at a loss with this.

Are you allergic to penicillin? That usually works when I have tonsillitis. How are you feeling otherwise? I usually feel achy, shivery and exhausted.

Have you been taking painkillers too?

I feel very washed out, shivering, diarrhea and hoarse voice.

I've been taking pain relief and gargling with salt water.
