Operation on finger under local anaesthetic - how long to recover/drive etc?

A few weeks ago I cut my L index finger very deeply, well it has transpired there is tendon damage and I am going to hospital tomorrow to have it opened up/cleaned up/stitched up under local anaesthetic. Apparently my finger will be splinted for 3 weeks (on its own not tied to the second finger).

May sound daft but am I likely to need a while to recover from this, as in confined to bed or lying about on the sofa feeling woozy? Any problems driving? How long might it last? DH is away a lot and working odd hours at the moment and I am trying to work out if I need to set up some help to bathe/dress/feed/catch the children (4 and 2). Don't mind a day or 2 of pizzas and DVD's but a whole week might be a bit much for them!

No .
A local is just that local. You will be wide awake-just the same as when you have a local anaesthetic for a tooth filling.

Paracetamol and a good diet along with keeping it clean and dry rather than hot and moist will promote healing.
I think it might warrant sneaking out of the washing up tho !

Well that is what I thought but people keep fussing at me about it and saying, have I got someone to look after kids. And it did hurt like H*ll when I first cut it to the point of needing whatever the SAHM equivalent of a sick day is, fortunately was a weekend.

Will stock up Paracetamol and put on a brave face then.
