Fallen and hurt my arm

Gosh I feel just as embarrassed making this post as I did tonight when I fell.

On a lovely dog walk and stood on some unstable wood, caught my foot and down I went.

I'm not the slimmest person (size 16) and landed quite hard on my left hand side, big bruise coming up on my leg.

As time has went on tonight my right arm is becoming increasingly painful, to the point lifting my hand up and down is hurting my arm, sort of on the inside of the middle of my arm. Itching my head is causing pain in the arm for example.

I'm thinking it's unlikely it's broken but what should I actually do, I would feel like an utter idiot going to A&E especially if it's 'just' muscular. What's the best course of action?

How bad is the pain? Are you ok at home and see how it is this morning? If you are unsure 111 is good for this to help you decide.

There's no way of knowing if a bone is broken without an x-ray unfortunately. Not sure I'd go to A&E tonight but would see how it goes overnight. Do you have a minor injuries unit that can x-ray in the morning?

Have you tried some pain relief. If it's still painful then it might be worth going and getting checked.

DRs tomorrow.

At the very least find a big scarf and immobilise your arm in a sling. If you have an icepack or a bag of frozen peas wrap that in a tea towel and put it on the most painful bit of your arm. Then call 111 and ask for their advice, including where you can get an Xray and how to arrange it.

Minor injuries/urgent care tomorrow. I hurt myself a week ago. Finally saw a doctor yesterday and oh my goodness! I have reassurance that nothing is broken, and painkillers that mean I can function properly again. Get checked.

Find the most comfortable position for your arm and try to keep it in that position. When I broke my shoulder the most comfortable position was with my hand up by the other shoulder. I would go to A&E first thing in the morning as I think that's when it'll be quietest.
