Raised ALT?

gingerspice27 · 17/04/2024 12:59

I am currently having some tests done as I've been getting some strange feelings (burning sensations) in my body the past week.

My gp said my ALT (liver tests) are raised in my notes. Waiting for an appointment to discuss. But what could this potentially mean?

I do not really drink and I'm not super overweight either (although definitely room for improvement there!) any experiences?

I had slightly raised ALT but otherwise normal liver function tests. They said to me it could be something as simple as an infection. They repeated the test about 4-6 weeks later and it had completely gone back to normal.

@dontmakeitaweproblem how were your repeat bloods? I've gone from 85 to 64. So still raised. :-(

Hi all, wondering if you girls are still reading this post. Do you know the cause of raised liver in ALT? Mine gone up to 50..
Thanks.

gingerspice27 · 21/10/2024 21:53

@gingerspice27 mine went to 88 over the course of 2 months. Had loads of tests and liver ultrasound - all normal. In the end it randomly went back down again after about 4 months. Can be something like a tiny virus.

Hi @gingerspice27 What is the normal range? Is it Serum Album, Serum ALT level? I am confused. GP concerned the sudden raised level. I am waiting for a liver ultrasound soon. Is it quick and do I need to drink a dye? What did your gp say how it came about the high liver level, allergies? Btw, I don't drink. Thanks.

gingerspice27 · 21/10/2024 22:14

Think the normal range was <33. Yes that's the one. Yours is not significantly raised at all (I think under 60 used to be the normal range anyway) so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I was told that it's very common to be raised.

Yes my ultrasound was very quick. I did get injected with dye but it was fine, I wouldn't have known. All over super quick.

We never found a cause. What's the reason you had the blood test in the first place? Do you have symptoms? @Julieace

Hi again, I was getting blood tests for my iron levels, perimenopause problems and they have found out the raised liver levels. The numbers is hard to understand.
