Vision problems caused by stress/chronic health - have you had them and did they get better?

About 9 months ago I started noticing my eyesight was going funny, hard to explain but I was struggling to see properly at times. I had laser eye surgery in the past so have had perfect vision since but just thought it was age.

Anyway went to the opticians and individually each of my eyes is fine but the problem is that the muscles are weak and they won’t work together! I have fibromyalgia and also am quite stressed with work/life. The optician said this is probably the reason. I am due to go back for another check-up but my vision still isn’t back to normal.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this and had it cleared up?

Did they give you any exercises to do?

extra-ocular muscles or the close focussing "muscles"?

Can you ask for a referral to an ophalmologist? Your GP should be able to refer you if your optician hasn't suggested it. I was referred to Moorfields and a weak muscle was diagnosed in one eye so that my eyes don't work together properly, although individually they are fine. I now have a prism incorporated into my glasses to help the double vision and ghosting that l was experiencing when my eyes were tired.
