the serum iron level isn't the most helpful index on its own. You need the whole lot of results for your GP to know if the tablets are helping and advise you.

They only repeat the iron studies and the receptionist stated today that its was really low . I am having imcrease symptoms pain in chest frm time to time increased fatigue where I am nearly falling of my feet, headaches.. I am concerned because if I am taking tablets everyday surely the leaves shud be increasing rather than decreasing? X

iron studies will usually include the serum iron, ferritin and Hb usually. The serum iron level on it's own isn't that helpful. You'd be better off trying to chat to the GP and get their advice.

Im sorry that you’re feeling so bad. Have you got an appointment with the GP booked? The reason they run the second blood test is to make sure your levels have gone up. Given that they haven’t, the doctors next step will be to investigate possible causes.

Iron isn't the easiest of tablets to absorb, are you taking it with Vitamin C, which helps?

My iron levels are really good (blood test confirmed) and one thing I swear by is raw spinach every morning. I blend it into an oat milk milkshake with banana and I swear you can't taste the spinach, only the banana. You can add cinnamon, yoghurt, peanut butter, whatever you want really. An instant iron boost every morning with basically no effort.

Wow, is that your haemoglobin?. That's dangerously low. You need a blood transfusion. It's an emergency
