Rash - 8 year old

Hello mums,

Has anyone seen this before? It's also on her chest, neck and back but not as angry looking.

She's been unwell the past few days, Tuesday was sick and didn't move from the sofa all day. Wednesday she woke complaining of a sore throat but not feeling as bad as day before. Today she seems fine in herself still a sore throat.

I called 111 last night, doc asked for pics of rash and called back to say he wasn't worried, reckoned it was just something viral but I'm just a little worried that it seems to be getting worse rather than better.

Thank you! X

My toddler gets post viral rash, if it was with symptoms I'd be worried. But as she getting better I'd agree with the doctor. Always book in at the GP if needed x

Personally as its getting worse, for a peace of mind I'd take DC to a local minior injuries unit or out of hours doc, failing that A&E.

Is DC otherwise ok? Any new, recent meds, went swimming today - changed washing powder etc? Eatten something new that not eaten before

Either way, see reassurance IMHO

Do let us know how you get on if you have a moment to spare. Thanks

The rash is getting worse - I believe you misread, thanks

I would take her to out of hours doctor or A and E just to be on the safe side,it's prob nothing serious but I really don't like rashes of any kind so I think it'd be better to get it checked out

You sought medical assistance - a professional has checked the rash and has said they have no concerns.

'Today she seems fine in herself' - so she is not getting worse in herself

You say the rash is 'getting worse' - but her overall condition is more important.

For those saying A&E - how is this either an accident or an emergency in any way?

If she becomes more unwell, seek further help from 111 or your GP.

The NHS website has good advice for red flag symptoms which would make an A&E visit necessary.

I'm actually waiting on a call back from our GP for another medical reason (she has been complaining on chest pain for a week) for her so I think I may mention it again, just in case these are related in anyway.

I don't like rashes either which was why I called out of hours last night.

I shall keep you all updated with how we get on!

Hello everyone, just an update regarding DD for those that asked.
Doc called back and asked me to take her in immediately and she's been given antibiotics for scarlet fever.
I'm glad I trusted my gut and asked the doc even though original appointment was for a completely different reason.
Thank you for all your comments xx

Hi OP

Many thanks for the update during these worrying times.

Posts like this will help others, so thank you.

I am certain DD will be 100% soon

Wishing your DD a speedy recovery.

I would say it is a viral rash but I would maybe get her theist stable in case it's step and needs antibiotics.

If temp goes up and stays up, she stops drinking and seems lethargic or brsthjbf faster then get seen at a&e

Grenola · 11/04/2024 21:16

Ignore! Just saw your update

Hope shebgets veter soon with the meds
