Hysteroscopy experience

I terrified myself reading stuff on the internet about hysteroscopies and had mine today and thought I’d post about my experience.

It was nowhere as bad as I thought it would be. I have a tilted womb and read that this can cause it to be worse. I also have experienced sexual violence so got myself into a state about it.

It was painful but not unbearable. I forgot to take the pain relief before hand which didn’t help. The worst bit was the biopsies and I had period like cramping throughout. The biopsies which were uncomfortable were near the end so knew that it was nearly done.
the nurses were all lovely and were so sweet afterwards.
Since the procedure I’ve had some light cramping but that’s it.
So if you’re waiting for one I hope you can take some comfort that it may not be anywhere near as bad as your expect xx

Mine have never been awful either, but the biopsy bit hurts quite a lot as you discovered.

Mine was the same. Cramps with the biopsies but, as you say, that’s near the end.

I’d read so many bad experiences of them and I wanted others to know it’s not always that way. I got a lovely cup of tea after in a tea cup and saucer and a biscuit from the nurses so not all bad! 😂

I was really traumatised by mine, when I had to have another my gynaecologist advised me to have it under general anethestic and it was a much better experience for me. I did take ibuprofen with my first and it made no difference at all to the pain when they took the biopsy. No biscuit or cup of tea after the first one but think I did get toast after the GA.
