My snot is orange!

Hey, anyone know what might be causing this? I keep getting clear, yellow-orange slimy snot. I had what I think was flu four weeks ago and only just recovering, however about a week ago this strange nose mucus started up. I'm pretty sure it's coming from my nose area as when I cough and it comes up from my chest, it's a more like a light green, which I assume is what's left over from the flu (and it's gradually going). The orange stuff seems to be from my nose, as comes when I blow it or snort. I can't find anything on Google except that it might be a rusty colour from blood but this doesn't look at all bloody. Sometimes it's the colour of lucozade! I'm getting worried, and am away from home for a week so can't see doctor. Thank you xxx

Do you have a sinus infection? That's what happens to me when I have a sinus infection.usually clears up on its own, sometimes needs antibiotics.

Sinus infection I suspect.

SallyWD · 09/04/2024 16:27

Sounds like sinusitis.

bookworm1982 · 09/04/2024 17:02

I've never had that before. I'm 42. Is something that might cause an issues with sinuses? How do I treat it?

Sinus infection. Get some over the counter sinutab.

I'm also snoring which is driving my husband crazy! Could that also be connected?

I get this when I get a sinus infection, but it's usually towards the end of it and clears within a couple days.

Ditto sinus infection. I've had this and it has literally run out of my nose. Antibiotics sorted it.

A GP I worked with a few years ago used to say
"Sinusitis clears up in two weeks without antibiotics and a fortnight with them".

Having said that, if you're feeling particularly grim and it's just going on and on, it's not unreasonable to see your GP for antibiotics.
