Period like bleeding & cramping after colcopscopy (no biopsy)

Had a colcoscopy 3 days ago due to suspected ectropion. A small one was confirmed but otherwise normal and no biopsy required. Smears are all up to date and normal. Nurse did note I had some mild vaginal atrophy which she made bleed slightly but otherwise I had a bit of spotting & felt a bit sore for a few hours but then back to normal next day.

Yesterday, I did an exercise class and noticed a bit of light bleeding afterwards. This got heavier during the day and by the evening was like a full on period with cramps. I read that a bit of bleeding and cramping was normal even if you don't have a biopsy, but this?

I would add that I'm perimenopause and late last year had 3 short cycles in a row (16/17 days) after my periods had started lengthening out. My GP sent me for a transvaginal ultrasound which was all normal apart from a few small fibroids (no surprise as I've had fibroids for years which have caused eractic, heavy bleeding in the past). Ironically, my cycles have been lengthening again the last few months with periods getting lighter, so this was a bit of a shock. Yesterday was day 16 of my cycle so wonder if it's just another random short cycle relating to peri and nothing to do with the colcoscopy?

Does anyone have any experience? Thank you x

Sorry to give a somewhat useless answer, I had a colposcopy recently but nothing like that afterwards. Presume it is just a normal, coincidental period? A colposcopy is somewhat invasive, might have just upset the system and now it's throwing a wobbly?

If it makes you feel any better, at my examination the nurse said a healthy cervix is the colour of good, expensive, classy, Waitrose, fresh, poached salmon, whereas she said look at your cervix, it's more of an Aldi cheap cuts salmon, at the end of its useful life. Haha. Nice

Thank you 😀 I was very active yesterday (exercise class & walking round shops) as opposed to the two days following the procedure so who knows?

No idea what brand of salmon mine was but she said it looked healthy!

Update: this is most definitely a full on period now, a bit clotty too :-( Can a colcoscopy bring on a period early? Disappointed as I was really hopeful my periods were starting to fade away......
