Reassure me I dont have some hideous flesh eating disease !

Went in for a routine hernia op under general last wed. Had a cold but was assured it was fine to operate. Cold seemed to go post operation and was recovering well but now have hideous headaches (pressure with vice like grip, no pain releivers help) and neon green nasal discharge from nose that SMELLS ( sorry if TMI). Smells weird, almost chemical. Am now convinced have contracted a weird flesh eating disease that is eating away at my sinuses. Or, more rationally, is this really bad sinusitis ( had sinus problems before but never with a headache of this severity). No temperature but feel a bit achey. HELP !

IIRC wneh I had sinusitis, the stuff that came out of my nose was just unbelievable. I was realy ill for about 10 days

The reason it smells weird could be because your sense of smell is affected by a sinus infection.
Also, when I had a GA I had a medical/chemical taste in my throat for a few days afterwards, which I assume was from the tube. So that could also account for the smell.

And when I had a sinus infection, the stuff coming out of my nose was almost alien like in it's appearance. And I had a headache, but did not feel fluey nor did I have a temperature.

So fear not, you have a sinus infection, I think, not a flesh eating bug...

Thanks Tommy and Hippipotamai. Sorry for TMI but I got DH to look at the stuff out my nose and he said it smelled awful. T and H, what was the stuff out of your nose like ? did you have chronic tiredness with it ? Which drugs worked best ?!

Right, the stuff out of my nose was luminous orange and utterly vile. I cannot desscribe the smell, but it smellt vile.

I ended up getting AB's from teh doctor.

The smell is the anaesthetic .
