Middle back pain

I've woken up today with the worst middle back pain (I suffer back problems but it's usually my lower back) it absolutely kills, not so much with movement but more when just sitting or standing still. It almost feels like someone has me in a tight embrace around me middle back and upper stomach. I have gallstones diagnosed but I've not had issues for over a year and this isn't the same type of pain. What on earth could it be.. is it possible it is my mattress. I do need a new one and I'm thinking my mattress is so old and rubbish that it's causing me to be in pain. Any advice? Painkillers are not touching it whatsoever.

Have you got any Gaviscon? That sounds like how my heartburn hits.

I have to some yes. I do get heartburn and acid but this isn't the same type of pain. It's not a burning it's a really painful ache

Yup. I don't get burning either. The first time it happened I was blue lighted to hospital as it was thought I was having a heart attack. They gave me Gaviscon (having done ECG and bloods etc) and it went away.

I get regular middle back pain as I have herniated T5 and T6. It hurts like you describe, and yes sitting and standing in the one spot hurts a lot. My advice, bend forward slowly right over and roll your shoulders like in a wave. Apply heat, helps loads.

Thank you. I was just about to run a hot bath and have a soak and see if that helps.

When my reflux was really bad my middle back was really painful. It wasn’t like a typical muscle pain, it felt deeper and was nauseating and woke me up from sleep. Drs didn’t seem too concerned but eventually it went away once I got reflux more under control with diet and drugs!
At the time I even paid for a private mri cos I was so worried.

My mother gets middle back pain periodically which is so severe she just sits in a chair and can't move, no pain relief goes near it. She's had scans and blood tests and nothing shows. I would have an MRI if it happens again.

I had a hit bath and dosed up on paracetamol and Ibruprofen it seemed to improve but now I can feel it coming back on again.

Hey guys I have been going to the doctors with middle left back pain on movement and they keep telling me it’s muscular
I think it’s
because
I have a baby 18 weeks old
anx I’m still breastfeeding him and so on

they said it will take ages to get better because of where it’s located

I don’t know my health anxiety gets bad
Everything just seems to be a problem and a worry it’s tiring
