Colonoscopy And Gastroscopy

The bowel prep is Plenvu

Any advice please?

I have kidney disease and the likely hood of feeling pretty rough is high

What did you all drink on that day while your bowels were clearing out and any advice on the actual Plenvu

Goodluck it tastes foul, keep it chilled I had to mix it with something clear & fizzy and hold my nose to get/keep it down.

Colonoscopy fine no sedation.
Take the sedation for gastroscopy I did it without and wow it was awful 😖

Oh and have NOTHING planned for the day your due to be taking it...

Plenvu - Make it up and put it in the fridge. It's slightly more bearable that way. I found drinking through a straw helpful as was able to bypass most taste buds! The consistency is odd, thicker than squash/water. I drank ordinary water and cheap lemonade in between.

Drink loads of water (if you're able and not fluid restricted) - the dehydration headache is killer, mine kicked in before the procedure because procedure was delayed by an emergency.

I had sedation for both. Felt pleasantly pissed really! They started with gastroscopy so I asked if they were just going to go straight through to the other end

Wasn't allowed to leave recovery until I'd farted. Let it all out.

I’m also doing the same today. Plenvu. I’ve got some Ice melting to mix up the solution to make it as cold as poss.

Thanks. I’ve got orange squash, Ice tea and elderflower which I hope is enough to mask the taste

Bless you! I drank a bit of 7up after every ‘lot’. They say orange juice is an option but the taste of it with it was awful!

I had this a few weeks ago - ghastly stuff. Just drank it over 45 mins and had plenty of water afterwards.

No sedative needed for colonoscopy, gas and air is fine. It it gets painful, just fart - instantly eases it! Gastroscopy is fine with the throat spray - get loads. Having sedative for the gastroscopy increases risk of complications, so best avoided - it only takes five mins anyway.

I’ve done lots of both procedures and had an OGD ( gastroscopy) . Most people need some pain relief / sedation for a complete colonoscopy.
OGD are grim with throat spray and absolutely fine with sedation.
