At what age did you stop taking the pill/pop? (not to conceive)

I'm 50 and at my pill check appt I was asked for the first time how long I was going to consider staying on the pill for.

I take the progesterone only one, due to coming off the combined one because of migraine auras, and I know it says you can take it until you are 55.

I very much enjoy not having to worry about having periods, as I've not had one in ten years, since being on the POP. But I'm debating how long to stay on it for.

34 - the combined pill, and this too was due to awful migraines with aura.
Had been on and off of it since the age of 18 with little to no problems (only coming off twice to conceive). Had my second baby at 27; after which I went back on it and stayed on it until the migraines started.

Was offered the POP or coil as alternatives but declined. We've relied on condoms since then, and I have got used to a completely natural cycle and periods since.

Getting used to natural periods again was initially a pain, as the pill had previously lightened them, but on the plus side I feel like I'm completely in touch with any monthly changes and know where I am naturally now 😊

52 and been told I can stop after my next pill check (due in April) as my blood test 12 months ago indicates I was post menopausal. Can't say that I'm not a bit wary, though!

I've not been offered a blood test to check that.
Just told that if I come off them now I need to use alternative contraception for 2 years, but if I wait until my pill supply runs out and come off them after 50 then I need to use alternative contraception for one year.

A big part of me is happy to stay on them until they stop prescribing them for me at 55. Don't some people get prescribed progesterone for menopause anyway?

Watching with interest . I’m 51 and been on it for years. I’m also on HRT so wondered if I need to stay on it as part of that ? I’d love to stop taking the pill. Hoping it might increase my non existent libido.

I'm on the POP also for the last 9yrs and only 35yrs old at the moment but honestly had it in my head they would make me come off around menopausal age so anything from like 45 onwards so to hear of so many women still being able to take it til over 50's is so reassuring. Honestly when I come off it my mental health during my period is so scarily bad that it makes me never want to come off it. The period itself doesn't bother me.
