Hiya, I have about 3 half full calpol bottles I need to throw out. Do I tip calpol down the sink or am I supposed to take it somewhere for proper disposal so it doesnt get into the environment/water. Thanks

Maybe Boots will take unused medicines. I am sure that I saw a box to put them in at my shop.

Hoglet70 · 27/03/2024 16:38

I'd pour it down the sink personally but maybe best not to take environmentally sound advice from me!

MurderousCheekbones · 27/03/2024 16:39

I would just chuck the bottle in the bin

vanillawaffle · 27/03/2024 16:40

Hand it to a pharmacy

MurderousCheekbones · 27/03/2024 16:46

Isn't the handing to a pharmacist thing so that you don't have random morphine etc going about the streets? I don't think calpol is in the same league.

fluffycloudalert · 27/03/2024 16:52

Hand it in to a pharmacy.

canyouletthedogoutplease · 27/03/2024 16:54

Pour it down the sink. Handing back medicines to the pharmacy isn't necessary for a bit of paracetamol, whazz it down the loo or something.

YomAsalYomBasal · 27/03/2024 16:57

Pharmacy. Our water system doesn't need any more chemicals in it.

I Agree.
We take all medication back.
Take it into a pharmacy so they can dispose of it safely.

Nope it's so it gets disposed of properly

TheTimeIsNowMaybeNow · 27/03/2024 17:05

I'd stick it in the bin, the pharmacy isn't for handing in calpol

YomAsalYomBasal · 27/03/2024 17:09

The pharmacy is absolutely for handing in unused calpol, amongst other medications. That's why this disposal system exists.

boonr · 27/03/2024 17:26

Throw it in the bin

NewName24 · 27/03/2024 17:59

Am I the only one wondering how you end up with 3 x 1/2 bottles of Calpol ?

CremeEggThief · 27/03/2024 18:00

Most people would just chuck it down the sink or throw it in the bin!

Needmorelego · 27/03/2024 18:01

Is out of date? I'd just use it for myself personally. Adult dose is usually twice the child one so it would get used up pretty quickly.

Brightshoe · 27/03/2024 18:03

I'd just put the sealed bottle in the bin. Probably wrong on a number of levels now I think if it.

Brightshoe · 27/03/2024 18:03

Although, actually, unless it's really really out-of date, I'd just use it.

Rainbowshit · 27/03/2024 18:04

I would just use it for myself if not massively out of date. An adult dose is quite a lot of calpol.

WonderingWanda · 27/03/2024 18:06

Just use it.

Isitbedtimeyet3 · 27/03/2024 18:08

They will laugh at you if you hand it into a pharmacy. It’s not a controlled drug so doesn’t need to be handed in. Throw it in the bin

ViveLaOeuf · 27/03/2024 18:09

I'd probably use it on myself, but you can definitely hand it on to the pharmacy. We have a big purge of the medicine cabinet and hand in everything that's gone out of date in one trip.

^this.

Topseyt123 · 27/03/2024 18:16

Tablets I take to the pharmacy, but Calpol I would tip down the sink, then rinse and recycle the bottle.

Out of interest, I do wonder what pharmacies actually do with these things when they are handed in? Is it some sort of incineration?

They won't laugh at you because it is the correct course of action.
