DP - sudden profuse sweating

Since Sunday DP has been profusely sweating. He’s not normally a particularly sweaty man. He’s soaking through his clothes, bed sheets etc.

No other symptoms apart from feeling tired/lethargic.

Dr Google hasn’t been helpful and he won’t currently go to an actual doctor. Any idea what could be causing this?

I'd say he needs to go to a doctor. Although I have a husband who is similar so I understand the struggle!

Get him to go to a doctor. He needs blood tests & other investigations.

GP as others have said, blood tests for the usual suspects, bp/hr, poo test etc. Has he lost any weight?

I would probably go to the doctor, although I currently have a virus that has given me night sweats, fatigue and I also have had pains and loss of appetite. I am wondering if he has a mild form of a similar virus so just not all the symptoms. So difficult for us to know so probably worth checking with a doctor

Best to check with a doctor. Maybe ask why he won’t go to a dr eg does he think it isn’t a worthwhile concern, and try to work it out from there. Would he go if you made it clear that it’s really bothering you?

Glandular fever?

Could be heart-related. My OH had same symptoms and it turned out his heart had developed atrial fibrillation. Very easily treatable though.

Not something to mess around with, get him in at the GP. There are a lot of possibilities and some potentially serious ones so drag them screaming if you have to.

I have a nasty cold atm and have woken up drenched in sweat during the night for several nights now. Horrible. Not happened during the day though. It can be due to a virus as could the lethargy. Has he tested for Covid?

He needs to put his big boy pants on and see a doctor. The fact that it’s come on suddenly and he has no other symptoms is quite concerning.

He has been to the doctors after a week’s wait for an appointment. Unfortunately he has also now lost his appetite quite a lot too.

Doctor phoned within 24 hours to say he needs to repeat the bloods in 2-3 weeks time.

His lymphocytes and ALT serum levels are both high. Everything else normal. Doctors have given us no idea what the issue could be.

High lymphocytes mean body is fighting something ie infection or virus. Could also mean serious blood issues.
High ALT serum from memory I think is to do with liver.
I'm sure someone more medically trained maybe able to help further.

My DH had a sweating at night issue turned out to be a prostate infection the infection pee issues started after the sweating

@Justwingingit2005 thanks. Yes, ALT is liver related. Apparently upper end of normal is 40 and his was 100.

Lymphocytes at 5.5. With the night sweats and other symptoms it’s very hard not to let your mind go to the worst case scenario.
