Hi,
im having trouble with my big toe. It literally throbs and its a bit swollen.
apologies in advance . My feet are in a bad way.

I have the same. Not gout. Think it’s a pressure point from tight footwear.

Its actually the toe joint that throbs, the bunion on the side isnt painful

I always thought that gout caused extreme pain so much so that you couldn’t even have the bedclothes touching it. Sounds painful enough tho x

I have gout, similar to your first picture of the redness at the side (where a bunion would be) and pain on top of the big toe also. Very sore, but not of a "no bedclothes near it" type, just made walking very difficult and throbbed a good bit.

I had x rays and all sorts as I thought it was broken. Then doc did a urea and creatinine blood test, and yes my uric acid was high alright. Treatment was immediate pain relief of the hefty variety..... so far I have had two recurrences but not crippling. I can get some drug to reduce uric acid if it becomes chronic but I'm not going for that at the moment.

It might not be gout, but maybe get the gout blood test to see?
