Cough for months

My husband has had a cough since January
Since March myself and my son have also had it with low temperature and aches. We’ve all taking amoxicillin but it’s made bo difference. The cough is very irritating, it constantly feels like there is mucus stuck in my throat, there is only s brief sense of relief after coughing and bringing the mucus up. Then a few hours later, the coughing starts again. Often with Uncontrollable coughing fits. Any ideas what is causing this please?

They are calling it the 100 day cough aren't they. I know a few that have had it.

Don't know the cause, but I've had it too. Started in early Jan. Not really coughing that much any more but throat and voice still not right. I don't feel ill with it though, since about the first week. It's just a very annoying cough which started as a chesty cough and then changed to a mucus one. For the first time ever I've been downing loads of cough medicine whilst also getting through lots of lemsips and cough sweets. No idea what, if anything, is helping though. I did have a hospital appointment and the nurse commented on the "100 day cough" that was going around. And I'm getting towards 100 days now so hopefully I'll soon be done with it!

Yeah, and I have actually had it for 100 days 😭 Strong signs of a lung infection now (I'm prone to them) and I could sleep for another 100 days, but symptoms do seem to be easing a little - touch wood!

Sorry not to have better news for you, OP.

Anyone else still coughing? I've had mine since January. Had 2 (useless) telephone consultations with GP, 1 course of antibiotics - which didn't touch it - and a chest xray 2 weeks ago (results of which still aren't back)

My cough isn't as severe as it was but it still wakes me up constantly in the night. I'm bringing up lots of mostly green stringy phlegm (sorry), voice hoarseness on and off. Sick of it now tbh and I'm certain I've gone over the 100 days!

Anyone still coughing?

Mines exactly the same, started January with a virus, turned into 4 weeks of coughing fits so bad I was being sick. Had a few gp telephone appointments and a chest xray - all clear. The cough has got alot better but still there, still brings up some stuff, still wakes me up sometimes. Tried Omprezole incase its gerd, tried inhalers, had a course of antibiotics.. nothings touched it. Will be 100 days next week (when I go on holiday) and im dreading taking my cough with me. Anyone else in the same boat?
