Chronic thrush sufferers, boric acid?

So I'm a chronic thrush sufferer, I get it for months at a time and it's miserable. I've tried everything, we have tried the 6 month treatment it doesn't work, it just goes on it's own when it's ready and it's been confirmed by swab.
I've just got some boric acid suppositories but I am worried about taking them due to how limited they are, has anyone took for thrush and found they helped? I am hoping for a miracle, I'm on month two of thrush so far...

Do you have a coil in? I had thrush every month when I had the coil, had it removed and thrush treated straight away and haven't had it since (a year and a bit ago now)

Sorry no advice or boric acid but have you been checked for diabetes? Chronic thrush can be one of the symptoms.

Boric acid is hands down the best thing for recurrent thrush/be in my experience. Saved me from the endless antibiotic/antifungal cycle

Hi! No I don't, not on any kind of birth control. Negative for diabetes. Docs say it's just one of those things

This is so great to hear, I'm hoping for a miracle honestly, I always forget I suffer from chronic thrush because when it decides to go it goes for months and then once it is back I'm frantically trying to treat it to no avail. Boric acid is my last resort now else I really don't know what else will help it sigh. What brand did you use? When did you notice a difference was it next day or few days?

Where did you get boric acid? Not available anywhere in the UK and read it's banned for some reason! I'd really like to try it as lots of people said it worked really well.

It helped me, I used vagibiom to repopulate the good bacteria afterwards as it can kill the lactobacilli as well as the thrush.

BoricVag from Etsy. It was years ago so I can’t remember exactly what I did but used it every day for a while. I also took probiotics orally abs as suppository (opposite times of day so they wouldn’t be destroyed by the Boric acid) - I think it was called femdophilus. The strains L reuteri and L rhamnosus are the ones proven to fight yeast and BV so look for a probiotic with those specifically.

Now I just use boric acid occasionally as a preventative when needed. This saved me - was dealing with this for 5 years before trying it!

I don't think it's banned, I used siaderma.co.uk

Is boric acid safe to take whilst taking omeprazole? I've looked on google and found a clinical trial but doesn't actually say or give an answer..

OP did the Boric Acid help? I’m scared to take some but I have a packet under my bed ready. The 6 month treatment isn’t working for me either…

keeponplodding7 · 28/11/2024 20:07

I’m keen to know an update too…

KindPombear · 29/11/2024 07:02

If it helps, I ended up using Azo boric acid suppositories for x2 weeks. Then used gyntima forte vaginal probiotics for 10 days to build up the good flora. I don’t know if it’s worked, or made me have another issue (CV, or too much good bacteria). I’ve just sent off a vaginal microbiome test. I’m also still one a weekly dose of fluconazole. So I basically tried to nuke this candida. I’m also taking Fem Dophilius probiotics too. I’m literally trying everything at this point. I can let you know what my microbiome test comes back with?
