Sudden Swelling in Knees, Difficulty Walking

In the last couple of weeks my knees have been getting stiff, in the last two days they have swelled quite a bit and I am finding it difficult to walk.

I moved about a year ago and used to be prescribed 100 Co-Codamol once a year to take one at night when my fibromyalgia pain is severe. I had requested some more and when I went to the surgery this morning to enquire why they hadn’t been with my repeat medication this morning was told that I couldn’t have them without seeing a GP. There are no appointments left today, and you can’t book an appointment only ring at 8am. Last time I did that I was on hold for nearly an hour and a half and still didn’t get a face to face appointment.

I am at my wits end, I have fibromyalgia but made it clear at the surgery, that this is different and has come on suddenly, it is more like a post viral arthritis that I had years ago and I was under the rheumatologist at the hospital for two years.

I have an initial telephone appointment with the hospital pain clinic tomorrow, but have no idea when or if I might be seen in person, I have been waiting around 4 months for that.

Any ideas on how to get someone to do something for me would be welcome. I am in so much pain and have only a few Cocodamol left.

Did it come on quite suddenly @tillytoodles1?

I'd had the odd twinge for a while, but suddenly over a few days it started to swell and the pain became more intense. Now, its permanent although some days its not as bad as others.

Thank you, I guess I will just have to get through to the surgery in the morning and hope that the pain clinic come through with something for all the existing problems I was referred for.
