Surgical Tooth Extraction

One of my teeth needs to be extracted. It will have to be a surgical extraction because I have got long curving roots. It is at the very back. The dentist has given me an appointment slot for half an hour. I can’t believe it will be that quick! Does anyone have any recent experience and how long did it take?

It’s a dentist that specialises in extractions if that makes any difference.

I've had an extraction that involved making some cuts in my gum (which I think classes it as a surgical extraction?) and it took 15 minutes all in from memory. The dentist also specialised! It was a strange sensation but very painless and quick.

I had this done about a year ago. Was also a half hour appointment. All went fine.

Thanks. That’s amazing! I hope I am just as positive once I’ve had mine!

Just wondering OP how it went?! I'm going on Wednesday and so scared although it's a tooth nearer the front.

I did it with one of my molars.
It was half an hour sugical extraction on paper.
In reality, I got two injections, he probably did a small cut but I was not able to see it and he took tooth out in few seconds using pliers.
Worst oart was strange sound when he was taking it out.

We spent 5min preping, 15min making sure I don't faint asI am a bit scared of needles, a minute taking it out and 5min he wrote papers.
Just have enough ibuprofen and paracetamol at home so you can get covered by swapping them every 4h.

Thanks so much @LondonFox I can't take ibuprofen, do you think it's worth getting something from the doctors in advance or will I be ok just with paracetamol?

Try panadol extra advance, paracetamols don’t usually work on me but they’ve been a godsend with toothache and the latter.

Depends on individual circumstances I guess. I cope better with ibuprofen but had paracetamol for c section in hospital and it was ok. You just cannot take as much in 24h as you could of two types combined.

Someone mentioned panadol, try that. And mention to your dentist you cannot have ibuprofen. I am not sure if your GP would do e consult upfront, mine was funny about that.
Good luck, and try to take day off or schedule it for Friday as you may like a day to chill and you will have that tampon looking thing for few h. Idk how it is called.

I'm having a wisdom tooth extraction in September, and I've been assured that it's very quick.

Also told to make sure I have breakfast (so my blood sugar isn't low so I'm not going to get extra dizzy because of that), and to take both ibuprofen and paracetamol before I come (and he'll give me a prescription for something stronger for afterwards).

Thanks so much everyone! Hoping my 2 year old will let me get a bit of rest after 🙏
