How long does it take the vomiting bug to spread?

Dp's kids came to stay this weekend. They looked peaky when they arrived and by Saturday night one was vomiting and on Sunday the second started vomiting. Turns out their mum had it on Weds/Thurs. We didn't realise they had a bug when they arrived so didn't take any extra precautions and I've got a really close friend's funeral on Thursday (where a lot of vulnerable people are likely to be) so I'm trying to weigh up the probability of us all coming down with it. I know these bugs are super contagious but because my kids are adults, I've forgotten how quickly they spread so if anyone could let me know when we're likely to know if we have it or have escaped it that would be great!

It's usually 24-48hrs after you're contaminated you will begin with symptoms. The problem is those germs linger on hard surfaces for up to 14 days and bleach is the only thing that kills them. So unless you've bleached everything and washing your hands well then it could be any time up to 2wks.

thanks - I deep cleaned the kitchen last night but will tackle all other surfaces tonight when I'm back from work. What a bloody nightmare! I wish we had known they were ill when they arrived as I would have tucked them in bed and kept them away from everyone else!
