Diagnosed with a mild form of this after recurrent episodes of BPPV. I also have long covid and I feel like it's part of that. Been given vestibular exercises but feels like it's made it worse :(

No PPPD diagnosis but BPPV, my dh worked through the exercises for weeks/months and they eventually helped. He did find that the exercises brought it on and he would have to lie down with his eyes closed to alleviate it.
He still gets bouts of vertigo when he gets respiratory illnesses now but never as bad. We also felt there was a connection to Covid as it developed after this and he found the masks very difficult to wear, but he had vertigo as a child years before so not sure if he is just prone to this type of illness.
I don't think it will ever be fully gone, he takes care not to move his head suddenly now and will often have to take a minute when getting up. The Balance Centre in Dublin, Ireland is where he was treated and given exercises.
I'm not sure if that's of any help but didn't want to read and not reply with our experience. It was a tough year at least and it was hard when it came on at work or when he needed to drive. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
I hope you get some improvement soon.

Yes I am recovering well from pppd now-if you check out the steady coach online I am part of the support group but she is amazing and offers lots of free videos online for help with recovery and understanding it is key as not many people understand it is generally related to a heightened nervous system preventing natural recovery and it is totally reversible nothing is structurally wrong your brain is just making a prediction error which is keeping the sensation's going! Also have a listen to Dan buglio who explains similar recovery concepts very well. Good luck you will get there ☺️
