but you have a very active 3 year old and your dp is away for work for a few days, how do you cope?

I neeeeeeeed sleeeep but at this point even some quiet rest would help but ds wants to play, play, play and seems to have sensed my reluctance and is being extra demanding for attention. What can I do?

Get your mum, MIL, sister, close friend round to help out

Thanks posie - unfortunately I live abroad so there are no family nearby and I don't know anyone well enough yet to ask for help. I guess I just have to cope - but any strategies for getting a 3 year old to entertain himself (even for half an hour) very much appreciated!

DVDs and lots of 'em! Hope you feel better soon, xxx

put telly on.

Put table of snacks/drinks out.

Get duvet and phone (so don't have to get up) and sleep/doze on sofa. Keep bottle of water for drinking.

As soon as he goes to bed - go to bed yourself.

Thanks folks - Armadillo I am taking your advice and I am off to bed now. Poor ds watched FAR too many dvds today for his own good today, but ho-hum, fortunately for him (and me!) I don't get ill very often.
