Bitten by something in Australia 2 years ago, occasionally get flare ups of the same spots again now

I saw a GP about this at the time as it was really painful but he gave me steroid cream (which made it worse) without telling me what it was.

And I’ve just moved so don’t have a doctor at the moment!

I was bitten by something - maybe sand flies? - in Australia two years ago. It was really painful at the time and the lumps lasted angrily for months. But what’s weird is, I still occasionally get flare ups of the lumps on the bite site (my face, near my ear) now.

What could it be? Some kind of fungal thing? I don’t even know what to google!

I do need to get an GP and go and see someone. But it doesn’t hurt, it just makes me feel a little worried!

It does sound strange, but as long as the reaction stays localized it's probably nothing serious. Do you have a mosquito allergy..? Sounds like they’ve turned into permanent blemishes that sometimes pop up. A bit like ecsema that usually turn up in the same places. But I have no idea.. I’d take photos to show your gp in case they disappear again before you go.
