Just had my cholesterol checked. They’ve gone onto nhs app but not yet spoken to anyone from my doctors.

I am 32, non smoker, non drinker, recently lost a stone (without really trying) but could do with losing a few more. Been on sertraline since last summer.

results are as follows:

serum cholesterol: 7.3
Serum HDL: 1.4
Non HDL: 5.9
Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio: 5.2
triglycerides: 1.6
LDL: 5.2

is this really bad? Any advice?

There’s some info here. Cholesterol You have a good level of HDL-the good cholesterol, but your bad cholesterol, and so the overall figure, isn’t great. The ratio should be below 4.5. Losing further weight and paying attention to your diet -increase fruit & veg, avoid fatty foods such as crisps, cream, cheese, processed foods and meats, ready meals etc etc will help reduce it. Some tips here

Why should you have your cholesterol levels tested?

Oh this is interesting. My optician told me I have possible high cholesterol based on what's visible in my eyes - I'm vegan and have been for years, drink moderately. Booked in for a test.
