Broken bone in hand - cast?

I broke a bone in my hand yesterday. Minor injuries have put me in quite a big cast. My X rays will go to orthopedics who'll be in touch in the next week to let me know the long term plan.

I'm wondering if I'm likely to stay in a cast or will they maybe put it in a splint? It's the bone under my little finger. Just wondering if anyone else had the same and got away with something more convenient than a cast.

I’m assuming you’ll go to fracture clinic, and I’d expect them to splint it.

They usually just splint it at the fracture clinic, but if it’s a serious break it might need a minor surgery.

Oh that sounds promising. Thanks both. Hopefully I can do more with a splint, like drive. She said it was a clean break so hopefully won't need surgery.
