Hi ladies
im wondering if any of you can help me. I’m having symptoms of a full bladder and wanting to go, every 5-10 minutes. no stinging or burning. I’ve had this for around 3 weeks now. Doctor has given me
anitibiotics today just incase, but I’ve been reading allsorts on the internet about IC (the joy of Google!) I’m feeling so teary, keep crying, can’t go to work, panic attacks, I’m at my wits end. Is there any positive stories of ladies in my position? what cleared it up and how long did it take? any comforting comments welcome as I’m so scared it won’t go
struggling to sleep etc. just feel so alone

Could it be thrush instead?

Yes l have urge incontinence and a prolapse bladder .. I'm going to see a specialist very soon.

@Charlylau2412
It could be Interstitial Cystitis.
I had all the symptoms of a UTI, but with no infection, therefore antibiotics didn't help. If you're not experiencing any stinging/burning pains when weeing, then don't panic yet about IC, as it may not be that!
IC can only be diagnosed, I think, via a cystoscopy carried out by a urologist.
It's not a very well known condition, and I had to push to be taken seriously and get treatment.
It can be managed - but obviously you really need to know if IC is/is not what you have.
I hope your doctor hasn't just given you antibiotics and sent you on your merry way?
If you've been suffering with this for 3 weeks, (even one is too long!), it does need investigating further.

Thank you so much, I think it is this but I’ve been reading so much that it can’t be managed and I’ll feel like this forever, also that I’ll have to have my bladder removed etc! I do know it’s ridiculous, I’ve just spent my time off work reading the internet and worked myself up! does yours have flare ups and then go away? I’m worried I’ll have to live like this all the time

IC doesn’t exist. It’s a diagnosis made when they can’t think of what else it could be.

@Bluestripeddress
What a dangerous, unfounded comment........which disrespects and undermines all the people, (and men can have this condition too, 'though much les common than women), who suffer from IC.
There is a wealth of medical evidence, (just look online), that IC exists. Would you please show me where I can read your evidence/proof that it doesn't?
I will await your reply........

I went through all the same scenarios and fears that you are going through now, yes, including the prospect of bladder removal being the only "cure".
The pain was awful.
First and foremost, you need a diagnosis. You may not have IC.
If you do, it absolutely can be managed, honestly.
Mine is managed through a combination of avoiding trigger foods/drinks, and medical treatments, both of which would take too long to describe here. But, I repeat, it absolutely can be managed

Are you a urologist?
You are very much mistaken.
