Pollop on gallbladder

Jayd291 · 06/03/2024 13:37

Hi all so I had an ultrasound 2 weeks ago because I was getting pains on my upper right stomach ( felt like there was a golf ball sat under my rib) and genially feeling unwell. and they have discovered I have a polip on my gallbladder and I have to have my gallbladder removed. Can the pollop on your gallbladder make you feel unwell? I have stages of being unwell and ok but feeling sick and got the runs. Has anyone else had this?

Also just to add what’s the recovery like for the operation ( it’s keyhole ) I have had a c section a few years ago and bounced right back straight away I.e no painkillers and was driving going out after 2 days so I’m hoping it’s a bit like that!!

Yes l had them..plus gallstones..
Was awful pain and sickness. Had them removed endoscopy.. then a month later had gallbladder removed.. keyhole.. 4 little sets of stitches.
Usually people are okay once stiches/ staples out but l had complications after .. they left some in bile ducts and was back in for 3 weeks with infections .

Hi.
Sorry you haven't had any replies yet, and mine won't really be that helpful as my position is not quite the same as yours.

I was found to have two polyps in my gall bladder about a year and a half ago. They are just being monitored at the moment as the doctor said they only remove the gall bladder once polyps are over 10mm. Mine are 6mm and 5mm and haven't changed at all in that time.

I just get the occasional sharp, sometimes niggling pain on that side, but that might be unconnected to the polyps (and that pain was why I was investigated in the first place).

I hope someone comes along with a good answer for you. And I will be watching with interest as am sure it will happen to me too somewhere down the line.

All the best to you.

Ah, just saw you had another reply while I got distracted writing mine.

Thanks for replying! My pollop is only 2mm but it’s causing me major discomfort, seems strange for just a tiny pollop but doc wants to take gallbladder out xx

Sorry you are in so much pain with yours and hope you will feel much better after the op. But I understand your nervousness about the surgery x

I mean, surgery fine and safe but I am a wuss about operations!

I can't give any advice regarding the polyp on your gallbladder but I had my gallbladder out 5 days ago due to gallstones. I had keyhole surgery. The wounds are still quite sore but I'm not on any painkillers any more. The surgery went ok and I was discharged on the same day. I still get tired during the day. They will give you strong painkillers for the first few days, it was very painful at first. Now I'm probably a lot older than you and I seem to take longer to get over things than I used to. Hope you are not waiting too long for your surgery.

Hope you’re feeling ok, how long did you wait for your surgery?

@Jayd291 I was referred last August and saw the consultant in September so it was 7 months but my GP did write to the surgeon to expedite the surgery after a lot of gallstone attacks.

I had stones in my gallbladder and they got infected and the infection spread so they took the stones & my gallbladder out with keyhole surgery, no stitches just gluey type of stuff instead to close the holes which just dissolves really & it's not much. I had the op in the morning ,first on the list luckily, and I was eating macaroni cheese and chips at tea time! I didn't need the pain relief they offered afterwards, but had previously been in agony & plugged into a pain relief on demand thingammyjig. I went home next day. That was 13 years ago .I did have some mild back pain for a few weeks but it had faded away before I went for my follow up scan 8 weeks later.
