C difficile?

I finish a course of (2 different) antibiotics on Sunday and have now developed watery diarrhea.

Absolutely freaking out that it is c difficile and also that I've contaminated my children as I didn't bleach everything straightaway when it first happened as I didn't think much of it.

How likely is this? I will call the GP who will probably do a stool sample but that will take a few days.

I am also supposed to go to meet a client tomorrow. It is a new job and I already called in sick on my second day as I was hospitalised (and given antibiotics then). Flaking on a client meeting a day before is now also going to look so bad.

Help! What should I do 😪

On the one hand I saw only 1 in 5 cases of diarrhea after AB is C difficile. I also seem to have bad stools first thing but then was fine for the rest of the day yesterday so might manage one day with imodium. I don't know...

Don’t take Imodium, you need to get it out of your system.
I had a solid 7 days, morning noon & night, of watery diarrhoea after two lots of antibiotics. After the 5th day of trying to get hold of the Dr I gave up, so wasn’t even tested, but no one else in the family got ill.
Work will just have to accept it, not a lot you can do, if your ill you’re ill.

The NHS website info on Common symptoms of a C. diff infection:
diarrhoea
a high temperature
loss of appetite
feeling sick
a stomach ache

If you are concerned, do check with your GP but diarrhoea alone probably is an indication of compromised gut flora post AB. Take some good probiotics. Biocare does a very good one for recovery. Kefir, yogurt and any fermented food is good too. They will not however work straight away so that meeting might best be postponed. Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you, I did read taking Imodium is a bad idea but its the only way I'd get through that meeting and the 4 hour round trip. So I think I'll have to cancel the meeting. I'll wait til afternoon and decide.

I'm going to keep to the most useful diet I can today and see if it helps at all.

I remember before my c section the doctor questioning my notes as it mentioned c difficile. I had NO IDEA why it was on there but it seems to suggest I had it before, so quite likely it's that again?

I felt pretty normal yesterday apart from a couple of dodgy BMs but today I have cramps, nausea and feel a bit weak.

My biggest worry is my children I feel sick with worry that I've passed it, i have been cleaning with bleach all morning.

I'll call the doctor today and hopefully can send a sample so we're ahead of it starts getting worse over the next few days.

I really hope it will just resolve itself, I am just worried as it started after I'd finished the ABs rather than during. I saw sometimes stopping the ABs will help resolve it but it clearly hasn't helped in my case.
