Is my cyst giving me a fever? (Pic included — do not click if you don't want to see an ear cyst)

I have this small cyst in my ear that appeared last Wednesday. On Friday in the wee hours of the morning, I developed a fever. Took some paracetamol and spent the weekend with a slight fever that came and went away. This morning, my temperature was on the high side of normal but I figured I'd be good to go back to work. Felt chilly + nauseous in the late morning but by early afternoon I was starting to feel better again. About an hour ago the fever came back! The cyst in my ear has since gotten "squishier", bigger, and warmer to the touch. DP thinks that my fever/nausea could be related to this cyst? Is that possible?

No idea but I am just settling in in case you decide to do some self treatment. But I would be taking that to a GP or pharmacy pronto as it could swell further and block your hearing.

If you’ve got something like that in your ear, a fever, and it’s warm and red, I’d be thinking infection. Definitely a call to your GP or 111, I’ve no idea whether it needs antibiotics or draining or both but I wouldn’t be just hoping for the best with that.

If it's warm - warmer than you? - it could be infected which could make you feel feverish.

Could be infected so prob worth getting it checked out. I'd call 111 and see if they can refer you to a local out of hours place

Thanks. I've had cysts before (not in my ear) but never had a fever to go along with it. Will call my GP if it doesn't get better.
